Spencer Susser - Bob Central
A natural born filmmaker, Spencer and his brother started making movies together on Super 8 as kids.
By the age of twenty-two, while most aspiring Directors are finishing up film school, Spencer had already completed his tenth music video, second short film and third commercial.
In 2000, he made The Making of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, which was the official behind the scenes documentary for the film. Spencer also made the TV mocumentary R2D2: Beneath The Dome starring R2-D2, Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, George Lucas, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Francis Ford Coppola.
Spencer’s talents lead him to the commercial world where he has found enduring sucess that includes spots for Puma, ESPN, Kelloggs, Snapple, Johnny Walker, Nintendo, Chef Boyardee, and many more. His “All I Know” video for Rahzel won “Hip Hop Video of the Year” from the MVPA while his Detroit Grand Pubas “Sandwiches” was nominated for “Alternative Video of the Year”.
Spencers short film, I Love Sarah Jane, starring Mia Wasikowska (Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, The Kids Are Alright), won best narrative short at the 2008 Nasville Film Festival, the Reel Frontier Merit Award at the Arizona International Film Festival & the Canal+ Award at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
In March 2011, after premiering at Sundance, Susser released Hesher, his debut feature film starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rainn Wilson & Natalie Portman. Just as Hesher premiered at Sundance, Variety featured Spencer as a “Director to Watch” and shortly thereafter Hesher has become an instant cult classic.
Spencer is currently developing his next feature film, based on his 2008 award winning short film, I Love Sarah Jane as well as reapplying his talents to commercials and content of all varities.
