Miguel Arteta

Miguel studied film at Harvard University, Wesleyan University and the American Film Institute. At Sundance, he was invited to join The Sundance Institute’s Writer’s Lab. Miguel has also taught filmmaking at The Sundance Institute’s Director’s Lab in Utah and at the Middle Eastern Writer’s Lab in Jordan. In addition to his other efforts, Miguel donates his time to teach high school students through his participation in the LA FIND’s Project.

Miguel’s films include “Star Maps”, “Chuck & Buck”, “The Good Girl” with Jennifer Aniston, “Youth in Revolt” with Michael Cera and the recently released Fox Searchlight comedy, “Cedar Rapids”, starring Ed Helms, John C. Reilly and Sigourney Weaver.

When Miguel is not working on a feature, he also directs extensively in TV. This season he is scheduled to direct several episodes of “The Big C” with Laura Linney as well as the HBO series “Enlightened”, starring Laura Dern and Luke Wilson. Some of his other TV work also includes: “Freaks & Geeks”, “Six Feet Under” and “The Office”.

Miguel has also been involved as artistic adviser to the Boards of Trustees of The IFP/West, The Sundance Institute and 826LA. He has been a member of the jury at The Sundance Film Festival, The Independent Spirit Awards and The Gotham Awards. He is a proud member of the Directors Guild, the Writers Guild and the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
